Arriving on the thriving hardcore punk scene of the mid-80s, Nick Harris' involvement with music began at an early age, working on radio, print and on stage. His early musical achievements brought treasured involvement with artists such as The Ramones, Mega City 4, Fugazi, Extreme Noise Terror and many more bands of the day...
A move from his native city of Bristol to London in 1992 heralded an exposure to the burgeoning techno, house and ambient scenes that caught Harris' keen ears, and within a year he had set up the now influential NRK DJ Agency, handling the DJ diaries for a hitlist of artists including Derrick Carter, Angel Moraes, Carl Craig, Larry Heard, Ian Pooley, Nick Holder and Dimitri From Paris. And from this agency, the NRK Music record label was set up in 1996, to capitalise on the wealth of talent already being represented at NRK.
NRK Music will celebrate 15 years of releases at the end of 2011, and Harris has overseen every release with great care and attention. The NRK Music catalogue reads like a who's who of dance music, and between the various single releases and compilation albums, NRK have been responsible for releases from (amongst others) Dimitri From Paris, Nick Holder, Derrick Carter, Dave Clarke, Freeform Five, Peace Division, Miguel Migs, Magik J, Jamie Anderson, Audio Soul Project, Danny Krivit, Chicken Lips, Joey Negro, Ian Pooley, Rolando, H-Foundation, Pete Heller, Loco Dice, Kerri Chandler, DJ Sneak, Ame, Joe Claussell and many more..
For someone who has been involved in dance music's journey over the decades, music production is something that Harris has come to rather late in the game, but a concentrated move into the studio in 2009 has started to yeald some solid results. Harris is currently enjoying a slew of new releases and remixes on labels such as Four:Twenty, Nite Grooves, Fresh Meat, Akbal Music, Mood Music as well as his own NRK Music. EPs like "In The Shadows Of Simian", "Zap Dance, And Other Moves" and "The Everlasting" has displayed Harris' deep knowledge of house and techno music, and each EP refuses to be tied down to one signature sound, instead aiming to explore the many moods and textures of electronic dance and house music.
As a DJ, Harris has been enjoying selecting the sounds for parties all over Europe since the mid-90s, from residencies in his hometown of Bristol to guest spots at top clubs such as Fabric and Ministry Of Sound. Forever underground in style, Harris quite easily covers all bases in his DJ sets, with emphasis on deep, driving tech house, garage influenced grooves and edgier, tougher music, plus the all important classics from the past that he regularly likes to dust off!
2011 looks set to be a busy year for Harris, with releases forthcoming on NRK and Climatic Sound and remixes due on Four:Twenty and Ian Pooley's Pooled Music. DJ dates at Berlin's Panorma Bar and London's Fabric will pave the way for Harris to start reaching other clubs and cities throughout the year.

now is Nick Harris' 'White Leather' EP on his label NRK, which is
celebrating its 15 years anniversary.
In addition to that, the 'Gunslingers & Greenhorns V.9' compilation on
Steve Bug's Poker Flat (Release Date: 29.2.12) will feature the exclusive
Nick Harris track 'Her Black Wings'.
