ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Bristol based Nick Harris recently launched the Stoned Immaculate
label, a platform for 'house music cut from simple cloth'. And with
already 3 releases in, the label, and its owner, have set out their
stall. Uncomplicated house tracks, with one ear on the classic sounds
of the last 25 years, and the other ear firmly pushing the house sound
forward. With the first releases out ('Dispatches EP', 'Hallucinations
EP' and 'Redux Ep') Harris is
channeling his house sound in the perfect direction for 2012, combining
powerful underground dancefloor music with a nod to New York, Chicago,
Detroit and Europe.
Of course, many may have heard about Harris already. An ever present
figure in the house scene since the early 1990s, Nick Harris started
his career in dance music as a booking agent for Derrick Carter,
Dimitri From Paris, Angel Moraes, Carl Craig and many more. He set up
the NRK Music label in 1996, and the label has gone on to been a
mainstay in the deep and tech house scenes, releasing over 170 singles,
45 albums as well as mix compilations. The discography of NRK reads
like a Who's Who of dance music, with artists as diverse as Peace
Division, Joe Claussell, Miguel Migs, Rolando, Dave Clarke, DJ Sneak,
Seth Troxler, Nick Holder, Kerri Chandler and Paul Woolford all
contributing to the label at some point in its 15 year tenure.
Over the last couple of years, Nick has stepped out from behind the
shadows to release his own music and remixes on labels like Poker Flat,
Fresh Meat, Moodmusic, Nite Grooves, Stoned Immaculate and, of course,
NRK. As a DJ, Nick has been playing clubs since those formative years,
and has played at many clubs over the years including Fabric, Ministry
Of Sound, Sankeys Manchester, Panorama Bar and many more. Nick is known
for drawing upon his extensive record collection for stunning DJ sets,
showcasing the newest, cutting edge sounds and pulling out stone cold
classics from the crates. Be it warm up sets, or long late night/early
sessions, Harris' style is sophisticated and always on point.
Nick now divides his time between running the Stoned Immaculate and
Leviathan Sounds labels, and producing music under his own name as well
as various aliases. Nick recently decided to retire the NRK Music label
to concentrate on new projects and his new labels. Nick will primarily
release his house material on Stoned Immaculate, and records for
Leviathan Sounds under alias, joining the likes of Dan Curtin and Lewis
Boardman as labelmates.
