ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Berlin-based powerhouse Savas Pascalidis continues to innovate and move floors
in the 21st century with the skill, purist sensibility and raw musical force that
only 20+ years of slaughtering rooms and breaking barriers can bestow upon a DJ.
His productions, spanning decades and a veritable who's-who of legendary
dance imprints, have cemented his reputation as one of the driving forces in European techno.
As a teenager Savas was DJing all forms of dance music from Hip Hop and
Rare Grooves, House, Funk and Dance music. He became a resident in some
influential and forward-looking clubs in Germany at the time. In the
late 80ies he hosted the first techno nights pioneering a sound that
would dominate floors all over Europe for decades to come.
Besides having released three albums and a series of EPs on influential
labels as Kurbel and International Deejay Gigolo, Savas Pascadilis is
also the founder of Lasergun Records, a platform for his special brand
of futuristic funked out and stripped down techy disco/Hi-Nrg grooves.
His distinctive work using analogue hardware and addictive baselines,
as well as references to 70ies and 80ies music through to Electro,
House and Techno, became very successful.
Being a specialist in demanding and sepulchral techno sounds,
Pascalidis tracks fit in seamlessly with today's electronic music.
At the moment, Savas is running the label Sweatshop for own productions
and collaborations with friends, like for example Joel Alter, and
related artists.
